This means I am now talking to real Bloggers instead of imaginary ones \u2013 well, I imagine I am talking to someone even if the reality is that I am talking to myself\u2026 It\u2019s definitely lonely out here for a housebound cat person, but utterly depressing to be dependent on Human digital technology. Even the old Carer gets exasperated. Where\u2019s the bloody on\/off switch, she shouts, when wrestling with the central heating. There is no on\/off switch. You have to go through the coding process, says the young Carer. Where\u2019s the manual? she asks. You have to go online. I\u2019ve got no time for this bullshit, I just want an on\/off switch, she screams. We go through the same ritual every time a new digital appliance arrives in the house, and let\u2019s not dwell on new computer stuff that is incompatible with existing equipment. This is pathetic, she says, I used to be able to fix anything from a typewriter to a motorcycle, now I am hostage to fat cat corporations who don\u2019t pay their taxes but force us to buy their impenetrable digital trickery\u2026 and, by the way, do you know my new iphone does everything but allow me to make and receive phone calls?
